Sign Sensations
It didn’t take long for Chris Chitty, owner of Sign Sensations in Paso
Robles, California, to become a loyal fan of Mutoh printers. In fact, the
62-inch Falcon Outdoor that Chris purchased only five months ago is his
first large format printer. Nevertheless, Chris says, “Mutoh is the only
large format printer that I’ll ever buy.” What turns a relatively new owner
into such a dedicated customer? Chris says it’s a combination of Mutoh’s
quality and service.
“Our customers are mostly small businesses with a few larger businesses,
such as real estate companies,” says Chris. “We produce a lot of large
one-piece printed vinyl signs for these real estate customers because they
look so much better than cut vinyl — sharper logos, better resolution. My
customers say, ‘Whoa! That’s printed on vinyl?’”
Chris describes one project where Sign Sensations placed full-color
renderings of home models as the primary visual in the developer’s sign.
“The signs were used at the entry to a development, and they showed that the
developer cared about quality because they have an attractive sign at their
entrance.”
Chris’ business began as Trick Tape, a name that reflected their primary
business of producing custom decals for boats and other vehicles. After
their purchase of the Falcon Outdoor five months ago, Chris has seen his
sign business expand rapidly, and he changed the company’s name to Sign
Sensations to reflect this.
This rapid growth in his sign business is another factor that Chris cites
for his satisfaction with Mutoh. And Chris is convinced that the Falcon
Outdoor thrives on staying busy. “The machine seems to work better when it
runs all the time,” he says. “It doesn’t like to sit around.”
The one time that the Falcon didn’t work for Chris turned into an
opportunity for Mutoh to demonstrate our responsiveness. “I had a part that
broke,” says Chris, “and I called Mutoh for help. I had a new part in my
hands by 10 a.m. the next day, no questions asked. There was no downtime…I
didn’t even have time to worry about it.”
Though he’s only been a Mutoh owner for 5 months, Chris already has his eyes
on his next Mutoh purchase: “My next printer will be a Toucan LT,” he says.
