Same Day Signs and Banners

Although the “Same Day” in their name leaves no doubt what their value
proposition is, Same Day Signs & Banners has found explosive growth outside
of their quick-print sign and banner business. According to Sam Comer, owner
of this Avondale, Arizona print shop, their specialty is vehicle wraps, and
it’s a niche made possible by their purchase last year of a Falcon Outdoor
Junior.
Wrapping vehicles—from fleet trucks to city buses, Hummers to golf
carts—puts particular demands on a large-format printer. Sam credits the
Junior’s ease of use to helping him meet these demands. “We can print on a
wide range of materials, so I can run a set of 36-inch by 10-foot banners,
then pull the material off and load our fleet vehicle marking graphics and
we’re on our way with a vehicle wrap job,” explains Sam.
“I go through three or four sets of ink cartridges every week,” Sam said
proudly. “We have that Junior spinning like crazy. The machine has paid for
itself 7 times over in the year that I’ve had it.”
Same Day Signs’ customers include local sign, banner, and graphics business,
as well as national accounts, for which the company prints and ships
complete packages of marketing materials, trade show and point-of-purchase
displays, and, of course, custom-wrapped trailers.
One of Sam’s proudest accomplishments is the compound curves of the custom
wrap on the hood of his ’68 Camaro. The vivid flames—taken from an actual
photograph of flames, not an illustration—bend and twist along the sharp
curves and edges of the Camaro’s hood. “The Eco Solvent inks provide the
flexibility we need to do photorealistic images in this kind of complicated
wrap.”
The Falcon Outdoor Junior was Sam’s first Mutoh purchase, and he’s eager to
make another. “It’s incredible, but buying just the entry-level Mutoh has
fulfilled every dream we had for the business,” says Sam. “Now we want to
step up and purchase the $30,000 Falcon II outdoor, which will allow us to
tackle more national business. We’ll be able to print faster and bigger, and
even offer wholesale graphics to the sign business.”
Sam’s ambitious business goals have grown Same Day Signs & Banners rapidly
in their first two years of business. With the help of his reliable and
flexible Mutoh printer—soon to be printers—Sam expects there’s no limit to
the growth they can enjoy.
