Today, Mutoh America Inc., a worldwide leader and manufacturer of large format commercial inkjet printers announced the Spifire 65”/90” Extreme printers becoming available in the US , debut at ISA in Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center .

The Spitfire 65/90 Extreme mid-range direct to vinyl mild-solvent printers incorporate Mutoh’s revolutionary patented I: Intelligent Interweaving printing technology, in addition to the newly developed 540 dpi productivity print modes that generally consumes 30% less ink vs. 720 x 720 modes. Printing speeds up to 177.6 sq/ft/hr on uncoated media the Spitfire Extreme presents flawless output quality for both sign and photo applications.

Mutoh has taken a totally new approach with i² technology (pronounced i squared). Ink is laid down in carefully optimised wave forms, not the traditional straight lines used by most wide-format inkjet printers. The result is a drastic reduction or even total elimination of the typical difficulties inherited in conventional digital inkjet printing. i² technology means the end of defects such as horizontal banding, step mismatch banding, ink mottle and bleed and the visible effects of missing or mis-firing nozzles.

The Spitfire extreme uses mild solvent inks that have excellent drying and drop fixation characteristics enabling a wide range of uncoated, eco-coated and coated substrates and self-adhesive PVC to be used with outdoor durability lasting up to 3 years.

The Spitfire Extreme is targeted at speed-intensive sign production applications. This 8 channel printer is set up in 2 x 4 color configuration offering a high saturation, resulting in brilliant colors and a wide color gamut.

For the Spitfire Extreme, Mutoh offers 220 ml and 440 ml cassettes.  For speed-intensive volume-oriented printer users, Mutoh developed an optional Bulk Ink System, providing ink autonomy of 4.3 liter ink per bottle.  Also, as a result of high saturation characteristics, ink restrictions may be set high.
