Attacking the Slow Computer!
Just like most other graphic programs, the speed in which FlexiSIGN operates is influenced by many factors. This makes it absolutely necessary to eliminate as many disruptive entities as possible to keep your software running at a decent speed. In this article I will address the computer and Windows Operating System specifically.
Cleaning the Windows Registry:
For purposes of this article we will assume that you own Windows XP. When Windows boots up, it uses a file called the "Registry" to load many items such as drivers and other settings. The Registry contains information that Windows continually references during operation, such as profiles for each user, the applications installed on the computer and the types of documents that each can create, property sheet settings for folders and application icons, what hardware exists on the system, and the ports that are being used. After a while, this file can become very large and will slow down Windows and therefore your software. To make sure that all the links and other settings are operating correctly, you should periodically “clean” or “repair” this file. This can improve the speed of all programs. Because this file is so vital to Windows operating properly, you should first make sure that it is backed up. The free error cleaner, PCsleek, will do this for you as well as clean up the registry.
Once you download and install the program, PCsleek will identify problems as well as repair them. I typically recommend you run this program once a week or at least once a month. I have had individuals report that after using this program, it did improve the speed in which Flexi operated.
Just remember to backup that registry. Here’s a link to a free program that will automate this as well. Use it before you clean or repair your registry: www.derfisch.de/lars/erunt-setup.exe.
