History

Mutoh Industries, Ltd. founded in 1952 in Tokyo, manufactured and distributed mechanical drafting products. Since then, ISO 9000-certified Mutoh Industries, Ltd. & has become the world’s foremost manufacturer of large format piezoelectric printers.

Established in 1963 as a subsidiary of Mutoh Industries Ltd., Mutoh America began as a drafting machine distributor to the U.S. market. Spurred by the parent company’s reputation for industry-leading technology and by its own quest for new, innovative products, Mutoh America played a key role in the PC-CAD revolution of the 1980’s.

Mutoh-developed plotters, introduced to North America in 1985, earned a reputation within the architectural and CAD/CAM industries for their speed, accuracy and quality. Many awards and technological innovations later, Mutoh America has earned similar acclaim for superior media handling and precision motion control in its new generation of large format inkjet printers.

In April, 2007, Mutoh Holdings Co, Ltd was established as a holding company of affiliates including Mutoh Industries, Ltd. Mutoh has engineering, manufacturing and distribution centers in Japan, Belgium and Phoenix, Arizona.
