6.3 Transfer and transportation

This section describes transfer and transportation of the printer.

6.3.1 Transferring the printer

This sub-section describes transferring the printer.

Move the printer maintaining a horizontal position.
Do not slant the printer body, prop it against a wall or turn it upside down. There is a possibility that ink inside the printer may leak. Moreover, normal operation after shifting (to these positions) cannot be guaranteed.

(1) Pre-transfer steps

When using a dedicated stand, transfer the printer following the steps below.

1Make sure that the printer is turned OFF.
2Check that the butterfly bolts (2) attaching the stand and the printer are not loosen.
3Check that the printer head is in the rightmost position.
4Attach the protective material (metal plate) for attaching the head unit, and attach it with thumbscrews.

5Remove the scroller.
6Remove all the cables such as power cables.
7Release the lock of the caster and transfer it.
Casters supplied with the dedicated stand are manufactured for a small transfer on the plain area in the room, which is different from the casters of transporting equipment.
When moving the printer outdoors in places with big step differences, move the stand and printer separately.

(2) Steps after transfer

After transfer, follow the steps below, and set the printer in an available condition.

1Confirm the suitable place for installation.

2After transferring the printer to the installation place, attach the printer.
3Check the butterfly bolts (2) fixing the stand and the printer are not loosen when using a dedicated stand.
4Attach cables such as power cables.

5Perform the nozzle check, and confirm that there is no clogging in the printer head.

6Perform the alignment.

6.3.2 Transporting the printer

When transporting the printer, it is necessary to pack in the same condition as at the time of purchase using protective materials and packing materials to protect the printer from vibration and shocks.

When transporting the printer, consult a MUTOH product dealer at your point of purchase.

(1) Pre- transport procedure

1Turn ON the printer.
2Confirm that the printer functions normally.
3Remove all ink cartridges.
4Turn OFF the power of the printer.
The operation panel displays "Transport Mode", and the printer starts ink rejecting operation.
Ink rejecting takes about 3 minutes.
5When ink discharge completes, check that the Power lamp disappears.
6Remove the scroller.
7Remove all the cables such as power cables.
8Attach the protective material (metal plate) for attaching the head unit, and attach it with thumbscrews.

9Remove the printer from the stand.

10Repack the printer.

(2) Post-transport procedure
