This section explains the Media feed compensation.
The feeding length depends on the media type. The following or similar results may be seen in prints.
| | Printed images overlap. |
| | White lines are printed on images. |
The accuracy of media feeding may be improved with the following methods.
| 1 | Adjusting the pressure on the media. |
| 2 | Adjust the media feed compensation value. |
4.2.6.1 Adjusting the pressure on the media
This section explains how to adjust the pressure on the media.
Adjust the pressure on the media by following the procedure below.
| 1 | Check that the media loading lever is raised. |
| 2 | Measure the thickness of the media you are loading with calipers or a similar measurement tool. |
| 3 | Open maintenance cover L.
|
| 4 | Turn the pressure adjustment handle, and adjust it so that it comes to the level measured in step 2 of the center white line.
|
| 5 | Close maintenance cover L.
|
4.2.6.2 Procedure for the media feed compensation value
| 1 | Display the Media feed compensation menu on the operation panel.
|
| 2 | Performs initial adjust print.
|
| 3 | Measure the distance between the two pluses in the initial adjustment print using a ruler. |
| 4 | Sets up Initial Adjust Change.
|
| 5 | Performs Confirm Print.
|
| 6 | Measure the distance between the two pluses in the confirmation adjustment print using a ruler. Then, confirm that the distance matches the feeding length when printing.
|
| 7 | Perform Micro adjustment printing.
|
| 8 | Refer to the illustrations below and check the printing result.
|
| 9 | Sets up Micro Adjustment Change.
|
| 10 | Press the [Cancel] key on the operation panel several times.

4.2.7 Installing media holder plates
Variations in quality and use conditions can cause the edges of the media to curl, resulting in damage to the media by the print head surface.
To prevent this, use the media holder plates to reduce the amount of curling in the media.
Follow the procedure below to install the media holder plates.
| 1 | Display the Side margin menu on the operation panel.
|
| 2 | Set up the margins (side margins) to 10 mm while printing.
|
| 3 | Used to load the roll media. |
| 4 | Set the media holder plates by sliding them from both sides of the platen.
|
| 5 | After installing the media holder plates, make sure that they do not interfere with the media as it is fed through the printer.
|
| 6 | If the plates are not used, return the plates to their initial positions as shown in the following figure.
|
4.2.8 Using the air-dryer mechanism
This section explains how to use the air-dryer mechanism.
When you use the air-dryer mechanism, during printing, air is blown on the surface of the media which makes the ink dry faster.
Follow the procedure below to use the air-dryer mechanism.
| 1 | Make sure that the printer is turned OFF. |
| 2 | Attach the air compressor tube to the solenoid valve unit.
|
| 3 | Turn the air compressor ON. |
| 4 | Turn the unit ON.
