6.1 Replacing consumable components

This section describes when and how to replace the ink packs, roll media and flushing-box sponges.

6.1.1 Replacing ink packs

This sub-section describes when to replace the ink packs.

(1) Replacement time

a.When "[*******] S/C NearEnd" is displayed on the operation panel
This message is displayed when there is a small amount of ink remaining in the ink pack.
The alarm buzzer sounds.
To stop the buzzer, press the [Enter] key on the operation panel.
Replace it with the new ink pack.
b.When "[*******] S/C InkEnd" is displayed on the operation panel
This message is displayed when there is no ink remaining in the ink pack.
The alarm buzzer sounds.
To stop the buzzer, press the [Enter] key on the operation panel.
Immediately replace it with the new ink pack.
[*******] in the messages of ink pack replacement indicates the color that is almost empty or runs out, using the following characters.
K: Black (slot K1)
k: Black (slot K2)
C: Cyan (slot C1)
c: Cyan (slot C2)
M: Magenta (slot M1)
m: Magenta (slot M2)
Y: Yellow (slot Y1)
y: Yellow (slot Y2)
ALL: All ink
Do not insert or remove the ink pack except at the time of replacement.
Inserting or removing the ink pack mixes air into the ink tube, and failures such as nozzle detachment may occur.
If "Ink End" is displayed, you cannot print until inserting the new ink pack.
If there is no ink pack for replacement at hand, leave the empty ink pack inserted in the printer.
Leaving the printer with the ink pack removed may cause the print head to clog.

(2) Type

Our genuine ink packs that are compatible with the printer are as follows.

Use genuine ink packs for replacement.
This printer is designed to use genuine ink packs.
If you use an ink pack that is not a product of the original manufacturer,
Printing might become blurred, or the end of the ink in the pack might not be detected correctly.
Any problems caused by using an ink pack other than those recommended above will not be covered by the warranty, and repair expenses will be paid by the customer.

(3) Replacing steps

Follow the procedure below to replace the ink packs.

When handling ink packs, pay attention so that ink does not get into your eyes or stick to your skin.
If ink gets into your eyes or sticks to your skin, immediately wash it off with water.
Failing to do so might cause irritation or light inflammation of eyes.
In case of any abnormality, consult a physician immediately.
Do not disassemble the ink packs.
If disassembled, there is a possibility that ink might come into contact with eyes or skin.
Do not give ink packs strong shakes.
Doing so may cause ink leakage.
Do not disassemble the ink packs.
A disassembled ink packs cannot be used.
When an ink pack is moved from a cold place to warm place, keep the ink pack for three hours or more in the new printing environment before printing.
Do not refill an ink pack with ink.
It may result in abnormal printing.
Insert or remove the ink pack at the time of replacement only.
Inserting or removing the ink pack except at the time of replacement may result in incorrect printing.
The procedure for replacing ink pack K (slot K1) is described below.
1Confirm that the printer is turned ON.
Do not replace ink packs when the printer is turned OFF.
The remaining ink may not be detected correctly, causing abnormal printing.
2Remove the ink S/C card to replace.

Used ink pack should be put in a vinyl bag, etc, and dispose of it in compliance with local ordinance and instructions of local authorities.

4Remove the new ink S/C card and ink pack from their bags.
Open the bag just before attaching the ink pack to the pack slot.
Leaving the ink pack with the bag open for a long time may result in abnormal printing.
Use the ink pack within 1 years from the date printed on the package.
Using an ink pack after this period may affect print quality.
Replace the ink pack three months after installing it in the printer.
5Install the new ink S/C card and ink pack.
a.Insert the ink S/C card into the S/C card slot.
Ink S/C cards are specified depending on the colors of the ink pack.
Match the mark on each slot with the color of the ink pack.
Insert the S/C card all the way to the end of the slot.

If the ink pack is replaced during printing, printing resumes.

6.1.2 Replacing roll media

This sub-section describes when and how to replace roll media.

(1) Replacement time Replace roll media in the following situations.
a.When the roll media loaded in the printer runs out
"End Of Roll" is displayed on the operation panel.
If media runs out during printing, the printer stops printing.
b.When you want to change the media type to use

(3) Replacing steps

Follow the procedure below to replace roll media.

1If the printer is turned ON, confirm that operation such as printing is not in progress.
Be careful not to trap your fingers when opening and closing the media cover.

6.1.3 Replacing the flushing-box sponges

This section explains how to replace the flushing-box sponges.

Make sure to install the flushing-box sponges in the printer.
The flushing-box sponges are an essential part to make printing consistent.

If waste fluid comes into contact with the grid roller, the surface of the grid roller will be damaged, and the media feed function may be affected.
