Northwest Sign Supply, Inc.
Taking Customer Relationship to New Heights

Northwest Sign Supply is one of Mutoh America’s most successful resellers. They currently have offices in Portland, Oregon, Seattle and Spokane, Washington. To better understand why sales and customer services runs so smooth we spoke with Steve Anderson, Vice President.

Steve attributes Northwest Sign Supply’s early success to their loyal customer base and a large consumables business. "The combination of our equipment customers and the consumables has helped to grow our business by 40% every year for three years. We knew that in order to be successful for the long haul we needed to differentiate ourselves. So six years ago we made a conscious decision to be the technology savvy leader in our marketing area. In an ever-changing technology environment this commitment has become our magic bean for success."

Northwest Sign Supply has three of the best technicians in the industry and as a result, their customer's look to them for virtually everything having to do with IT. From computers, software and printers, to color profiling, consumables and even integration of other devices affecting the network (i.e. phone systems and security). It was this commitment to technology and integration that lead Northwest Sign Supply to Mutoh America. "We chose Mutoh because of their advancements in printing technology. We really believe Mutoh is in-touch with what customers want and need. For example, the recent addition of Mutoh's Falcon II Outdoor printer using Eco-Solvent PlusTM inks is a perfect match for the environmentally conscious Pacific Northwest."

Northwest Sign Supply gains customers, provides expert services and grows those relationships based on its "technology experts" positioning. In order to realize the opportunity for new customers the Company utilizes consistent marketing blocking and tackling:

1.  They keep a large amount of inventory on-hand so they can respond quickly to customer requests.

2.  Each facility has a professional demonstration area where customers can actually bring in their own jobs for a real-world example of what the printers can do.

3.  Open house and seminar events are conducted in an educational format to provide a low-pressure sales environment.

4.  The company's Web site is used in conjunction with broadcast email and faxes to communicate events and promotions.

"In addition to our own lead generation efforts, we diligently follow-up on leads provided by Mutoh," said Anderson. "We have found these to be our best opportunities. Mutoh has done an excellent job of making themselves known in the market. Rarely do we hear 'what's a Mutoh?"
